Pancake CTA Entry

I really hope it's apparent how much love and time I put into this (and how much I want her)!! ;u; I woke up at 5:40 am prepping everything yesterday and finished sometime around 12:30 pm haha. The instant I saw this bagbean I knew I had to try my hardest to win her! Pancakes hold a very special place in my heart. Aside from just loving them as a food, I named my first pet rat Pancake and I lost her to pneumonia in 2013 and I still miss her every day. I would really love to own this bagbean and have her own a little "make your own pancakes" griddle/workshop in Griffia, where she has all the supplies in her restaurant and Griffians come and make all different kinds of pancakes- chocolate chip, peanut butter chip, all different colored pancakes, cinnamon swirl with cream cheese frosting...! I feel like she'd love to have sprouts there and assist them in learning to cook. Attached, she would have a little shop with bags of her own homemade pancake mixes in all different flavors and colors, along with cooking tools. Maybe a little breakfast bar for those who aren't in the mood to sit there and make their pancakes, they just wanna eat and go XD Her personality would be very mommy-like. Slapping hands with a wooden spoon in the workshop, being loving but knowing when to put someone in their place! In memory of my rat I'd love to get my hands on a paramice for her as her little cooking assistant that sits on her shoulder just like how my baby would sit on my shoulder when I would do chores at home as a teen.


ANYWAY!! This was my first time making a food sculpture! I figured it marzipan would be up my alley since I already sculpt with clay. I actually intended to do a rice crispy sculpture with fondant (which I was super intimidated by cause I've heard how difficult fondant can be), and when I looked in the aisle for food coloring I stumbled across this marzipan dough and the light bulb went off, this would be the best food for me to try to make an entry with XD She was carefully made from marzipan almond candy dough, wilton food coloring, and toothpicks (for stability). I kept eating little pieces of the marzipan as I was making her, I'm sure I had WAY more sugar than I should have yesterday! It took alot of patience and time getting the colors right (though I couldn't make her white because I couldn't BLEACH the food). I only had one experience before this using food coloring so I made some mistakes and had color all over my hands. Washed my hands after using each color so I could prevent getting the wrong colors in the wrong places. My hands felt so weird and shiny that night from all the soap I used all day XD I used sky blue food coloring for the pancake (felt it was necessary to make a pancake and include it in the entry), I didn't realize it would brown when cooking it on the pan, so you just see the blue on the sides I also used Friendly's blue icing flavored ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate sprinkles. I already had the blue square plates and thought it would go well! There WAS a nice amount of maple syrup on top but by the time this was photographed, the pancake already soaked it up, and the ice cream and whipped cream started melting. Photographing this was extremely stressful and had to be fast, she continuously kept leaning to the side and needed more and more toothpicks to hold her up, everything was melting really fast. The pretty dollop of whipped cream melted and I was so sad cause it looked so cute

I enjoyed making this a lot and am very grateful we had a craft to adopt with a medium I've never used for art before and now can use this in the future One of my best friend's baby shower is coming up later this year so now I can make a cake with a cute little edible cake topper for her I hope you like my entry and the following silly photos and process photos!!

I'm smiling but I felt so guilty eating her and it felt so wrong XD I don't like eating things with a face! I really hated that I spent so much time on my entry just to eat her and all I left is the photos of what *was* lol I almost cried I wish she could have been clay so I could have kept her!! I took the shot though so maybe someone would get a giggle She was REALLY delicious though, I never knew of marzipan before finding it in the store and I LOVE almond flavored stuff.
